Micromouse Competition Overview

27th June 2024

Event Overview: Micromouse Competition at City, University of London Robotics Society

Excitement buzzed through the air as members of the City, University of London Robotics Society gathered for the highly anticipated Micromouse Competition. With teamwork and determination driving them forward, participants embarked on the adventure of designing, building, and programming their very own micromouse robots from scratch.

The competition began with teams diving into the meticulous process of assembling their micromice. Armed with components and a sharp vision, each team carefully pieced together their robots, from the chassis to the electrical board. Soldering stations hummed with activity as members crafted circuits, attaching components like resistors, LEDs, and sensors with care and precision.

Once the hardware was in place, the challenge began coding. As a team, we combined our programming skills to develop algorithms and commands to guide our micromouse through the maze. Hours of debugging, testing, and refining followed as we worked to fine-tune our code for optimal performance.

Finally, the moment arrived as our micromouse navigated the maze, highlighting the result of our hard work and creativity. While the competition was intense, the spirit of camaraderie among participants was evident, with teams cheering on their peers and celebrating each other’s successes.

Account of Team Ingenium’s Experience:

“Under the banner of our team’s name, the “Ingeniums,” our resolute team of five members embarked on an exhilarating journey to breathe life into our micromouse creation. Faced with a tight timeline, every moment counted as we navigated from the initial planning stages to the final adjustments. Collaboration and innovation emerged as the twin pillars guiding our every move. Despite the constraints of time, our team synchronised seamlessly, each member contributing their unique skills and expertise. From the intricate coding to the meticulous design of our robot, we maintained a relentless focus on excellence, ensuring that every aspect of our creation was honed to perfection within the allocated timeframe. Through unwavering teamwork and determination, we transformed challenges into opportunities, overcoming obstacles with creativity and resourcefulness. As the deadline loomed closer, our cohesion as a team only strengthened, fuelling our collective drive to achieve our shared goal. In the fast-paced world of robotics, adaptability is key, and our team rose to the occasion with grace and agility. We embraced iterative design processes, swiftly iterating on our prototypes, and refining our strategies based on real-time feedback and experimentation. In the end, our success was not just measured by the functionality of our micromouse, but by the bonds forged and the lessons learned along the way.

As the “Ingeniums,” we encompassed ideas of talent, intelligence, creativity, and our commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within our robotics community. Inspired by themes of futuristic exploration and innovation, we chose to embody our collective vision and aspirations in pushing the boundaries of technology. “

In the end, the Micromouse Competition was more than just a contest—it was a journey of exploration and discovery.
